THE ARABIC WORDS in KAZAK TURKISH
WHOSE MEANINGS HAVE CHANGED

ABSTRACT

It is a well-known fact that the Arabic language has more or less affected the languages of the nations, which embraced Islam. In this context, Arabic has affected Turkish dialects in various degrees. Turkey Turkish has been influenced by Arabic more than the other Turkish dialects. However, Kazakh Turkish is one of the Turkish dialects least influenced by Arabic. There have been changes in meaning of some of the Arabic words used in Turkey Turkish. In the same way, some of the words’ meanning have changed in Kazakh Turkish in which almost 1000 Arabic words are used. These words catch the attention of people who begin to learn Kazakh Turkish or people who know Arabic more or less. This study aimed to identify Arabic words (187 words have been found) whose meanings have changed, in Kazakh Turkish.
