ABSTRACT

In the Ottoman Empire, sultans, princes and prominent statesmen protected and rewarded the artists. That was very important in the development of the Divan poetry. Therefore  palaces, residences of pashas and governors were the basic centre of Ottoman literary life. On  one hand, Cem Sultan has been known as protecting poets and organising assembles for poetry and entertaintment, on the other hand he was a governor and a poet. During his governorship of Konya, the community around him had a distinct place in literary environment. The community consisting Sa’dî-i Cem, Sirozlu Kandî, Sehayî, Haydar Çelebi, La’lî, Aynî, Şahidî, Türabî  has been named as “The Cem poets”. Community had become so unitial that its members left the country together after the fortune of Cem Sultan. The effects of this event on the Divan literature have been analyzed in our article.
