ANCIENT MERV ENVIRONMENT FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF
CULTURAL PHILOSOPHY

ABSTRACT

Merv, known throughout the history as “Maru”, “Margush”, “Margiana” “Alexandria of Margiana”, “Margaba”; had been known as the geographic region, which inhabited different religious believers at the same time. In this region the beliefs of Zoroastrism, Buddhism, Christianity and Maniheism were widely spread.

 Merv where also the Turkish people lived in, became famous with its philosophers and libraries which had been important that time. Merv influenced Baghdad that became the cultural center. “The science which blossomed” in this geographic region, had passed to the West with the translation activities and had played indirect but an active role in the birth of the modern science.
