TURKOLOGICAL STUDIES IN ALBANIA |

The turkological studies in Albania have its historical base on the Ottoman-Albanian relations instituted during the five centuries Ottoman period of the Albanian history. The problems of the Albanian history under the Ottomans, the impact of Turkish on Albanian language and the influence of Oriental literature on the Albanian literature constitute the main issues of the turkological studies in Albania. The intensification of studies not on the pre-Ottoman and Turkish culture, but on the Ottoman period of the Albanian history and the lack of qualified specialists in the Oriental languages, had its consequences in the definition of the area of turkological studies in the Albania. For above mentioned factors, this field remained in the level of studies which deal only with the influence of Turkish-Ottoman culture on the Albanian history, language and literature. This reality prevents the Turkology in the Albania from being an independent scientific discipline. Eventually, the turkological studies in Albania might be analized only in the framework of the Albanian history, language and culture. |
