ABSTRACT

Babur, as a ruler, occupies an important place in the Turkish history. His valor and determination to overcome difficulties show us how strong his nature was. Possessed by solitude at times and trying to overcome obstacles inconceivable for his soldiers and friends, he expresses his personal feelings and contemplates about his real-life events in his works. Showing a good example of his strong will by living far from his wife and children, Babur possessed a character of being ready to fight even single-handedly in the name of his cause. His statements, regarding his Vekayı and Divan, as well as his personal life in India, provide a document that makes it possible for us to know better the personal life of a ruler. This recollection and illustration of poems reveals a ruler's inner world and the difficulties he came across in the conquest of India, as well as the poet's nostalgic and solitary feelings.
