It is almost impossible to comprehend literary products and literature background of a nation unless the importance of literature terms is fully understood. The term "dedication" could play a critical role in understanding of a literary product as well as understanding of its producer. The attitude sometimes wrongly referred as "dedication" has considerable history and interesting results in Turkish literature. In this article, through examples, we try to show how this term has been used from the past to today, what meaning it has had and why it has been misused. Besides, we try to explain what a "dedicatory" reminds.
