SLAVIC LANGUAGE INFLUENCE ON GAGAUZ

ABSTRACT

      Gaaguz is a Turkish dialect spoken on the Balkans that shows very interesting structural deviations from the common Turkic model. After studying the available published language material as well as data collected in a field study I analyzed those deviations triggered by the influence of Slavic languages according to the code-copying model. The aim of this article is to exemplify the main findings of my PhD thesis.
