A RESEARCH ON TURKISH WORDS IN OLD RUSSIAN MONUMENTS - "THE SONG OF IGOR COMPANY"

ABSTRACT

       "The Song of Igor Company" mentions about the war between old Russian and Turk Kipchak nations in 1185. Turk Kipchak nation had gained victory in this war. It is rumoured that the author of this monument had been from Bachinak nation.
The introduction of article the research of old Turkish words in "The Song of Igor Company" which was made N. A. Baskakov, P. M. Melioranskiy, K. G. Menges, F. Y. Korsh etc.
     In the introduction it is also mentioned that a new perspective formed after the edition of some books such as O. Suleymenovs "Az i Ya" ("Az-Ya") and M. Ajjis "Polin polovetskogo polya" ("The wormwood of Kipchak Steppe").
The groups of old Turkish vocabulary in "The Song of Igor Company" are also given depending on meaning and subject in the article. There are five groups of words in the monument. Each of them separate into suitable subgroups. This separation demonstrates the semantical function of old Turkish words in old Russian lexico-system and the depth of meaning of the words that are transferred to old Russian. The list of the words and their usage of frequency are given in each subgroup. The table of the words usage of frequency is writen depending on the functional status of old Turkish words. This table explains the effect of old Turkish nations on old Russian people and which arears of life are effected. It also determines the deep mutual influence between these two nations. Besides it makes possible to analyse this problem of influence not only from the view point of linguistics, but also from the point of view of history and ethnografy.
