ÖRFI'S ADVENTURE WHILE TRAVELING FROM ŞIRAZ TO INDIA AND
PLACE IN THE CLASSICAL TURKISH LITERATURE

ABSTRACT

      In this article Örfi's influence on the Turkish Literature has been presented. Örfi-i Şirazi, who is widely known in the Iranian and the Ottoman Literature, is one of the members of the literary style called "Sebk-i Hindi" although he is original Iranian. Örfi, who was firstly discovered in the 18th century by a Turkish poet, Nef'i, had a great impact on the Turkish poets both in that and the following centuries; and his influence didn't disappear even in the century even when the Turkish poetry started to prove itself. Known is a master of the poetry by many Turkish poets, Örfi took place in various anthologies with his poems, and most of his gazzels admired have been 'tahmis' some of the beyyits especially the kassides hard to grasp have been interpreted. Therefore, to many critics, Örfi is one of the most influential Iranian poets who had affect on the Turkish poetry.
