PERSIAN VERSES OF ALI SHIR NAVA'I

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet KARTAL

ABSTRACT

Alî Þîr Nevâî is one of the greatest poets of not only Cagatay literature but also of all fields of Turkish literature. Nevai wrote many verse and prose works, proving that Turkish was superior to Persian from many perspectives in a period when Persian literature was in its apex through the works of Molla Cami. However, he composed a Divan of Persian verses he wrote upon the demand of his friends Molla Cami and Hüseyin Baykara. In this study those Persian verses will be dealt with.
