THE SIR DERYA REG I ON AND IT'S PLACE IN |
Summary: The Sir Derya region is not only the place where one of the bigest rivers of the Central Asia, Sır Derya is, but also a place of the oldest settlements of humanbeings took place and the civilations came up. This place that also took place in midle age literature as "Maveraünnehr", is between Amu Derya (Ceyhun) and Sır Derya (Seyhun) region. At the shores of these two rivers famous cities appeared, where people made many gorgeous art crafts and, names of which where mentioned in historical and geograrhical works. At the same time in this region the most important events of Turkish history took place, Turkish states where established, significant leaders were born and great Thinkers wrote their important masterpice here. By Amu Derya river, while the masterpieces of the middle age such as Buhara and Semerkant came up, cities like Otrar, Sıganak, İsficab, Yesi, Savran (Sauran) , Barçınlığkent, Yenikent, Sütkent were built by Sır Derya river. It has always been known, the region of Sır Derya and beyond was the oldest settlements of the city Turkish and the cities occured and developed here were their works. Althou many reserches were done about these cities that developed in middle ages and that became a significant cross road on great Silk Road. Few information were obtaint and the ancient historical reserches about this region are not sufficient . By knowing the fact that the root of the history is in the ancient times, I tried to put a focus on the history of the Sır Derya region. This reserch will also emphasise the importance of Sır Derya region as "Turkish Home" in the Turkish History.
