Assist. Prof. Dr. Ferhat KARABULUT

Abstract: Like a living organism, a language can be born, and when it finds an opportunity, it can rapitly grow. But, if it loses out its own environment where it can safely live, it will not have a chance to be spoken forever. As a result of China's occupation, oppression and policies which have not given permission to Turks of East Turkistan to live in their own land at liberty for centuries, some small groups such as Uyghur, Kazakh and Kirghiz Turks tried to leave the land and have chosen to live in a foreing country in peace. Uyghur Turks have come to Kayseri and settled down there since 1965. This study deals with Uyghur Community living in Kayseri and their language in terms of the process of language shif t and language death.
