SOME NOTES ABOUT THE INFLUENCE OF
KHOJA AHMAD YASAWI ON TURKMEN

ABSTRACT

Khoja Ahmad Yasawi has been a great influence on Turkic World as well as on Turkmenistan. One can see this influence both in the folklore and classical poetry of Turkmens.

Ahmad Yasawi has an important place in scientific and cultural progress of Turkmenistan. Hakim Ata, Gezli Ata, Kochkar Ata and other dervishes of Ahmad Yasawi have had also great service in this progress.

The great personality of Ahmad Yasawi is noticed also in the folk epics and tales, for instance in Turkmen tales on Dede Korkut.

The history and spiritual mission of Ahmad Yasawi from Turkestan was hidden from Turkmen people in the Soviet Union. After earning independence, Turkmen researches begin again to put forward the values of Ahmad Yasawi
