ABSTRACT

Shah Babür, who by founding Babür State, opened new horizons in Turkish history. He not only acted as an artisan shah but also dealt closely with art and Literature which has made him wellknown. Having an effcetive role in spreading Cagatai Turkish in India, he is, at the same time, regarded as the firs representative of Turkish poem tradition. The works he wrote both in prose and verse indicate his multi dimensional art. Divan is the most significant work anong the works that he wrote. RisaLe-i VaLidiyye Tercümesi which is found in the transcripts of Divan and which should be, infact, regarded as a complete work is important for showing the writer's mysticaL tendencies. The transcript of Babür's Divan in Raza Library, Rampur, India is significant because it includes a rubai which is written in the handwriting of Babür. Babür's diary on which western scholars have made many studies, includes information about his private Life. Babür translated "Risale-i Validiyye" by the spirituaL Leader Hodja Ubeydullah Ahrari in order to recover from an illness while he was sick. The poet beLieves that his recovery was due to Ahrari's hollyness and therefore he showed his Loyality to the great mystic Hodja Ubeydullah Ahrari .
