EDUCATION- INSTRUCTION
Our university carries out its education, instruction, and research activities as formal education, open (outside campus) education, and distance education (computer-based, e-learning) in its central campus in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan. In addition to these programs, there are also non-formal education activities available for the public, which aim to help people get a certified vocation.
Apart from providing a modern and qualified education for our students, we also pay attention to make them internalize moral values, adopt a questioning, argumentative, and democratic attitude, and to appropriate these values and teachings in academic life and campus life.
Our university differs from other universities in Turkey and Kazakhstan not only with its accredited academic programs but also its bilingual education in Turkish and Kazakh.
There are counselling services for students to develop personal interests and abilities in their fields of study and vocational guidance as well as physical facilities to reply for the academic needs of every student at any grade, laboratories, and application areas.
Our academic staff consists of distinguished academicians from Kazakhstan, Turkey, and other countries. For such reasons, our university is one of the most competitive universities in Kazakhstan.
FORMAL EDUCATION
Formal education consists of two terms in one year, and it includes an academic period of 30 weeks for all grades except for the final year students. Academic period of study is determined according to the classification of the branches.
Our educational system, scheduled on a semester basis and fulfilment of credits, provides a student-centred academic atmosphere.
Formal education in our university is offered as “tuition-free and with scholarship,” and “tuition-free and with fee.” For students from Turkey, we offer a tuition-free education. If students who register as tuition-free and with scholarship fail their class, they have to continue their education by paying the fee.

The languages of instruction in the Turkestan Distance Education Faculty are Turkish, Kazakh, and Russian. This faculty includes the Departments of TÜRTEP, KAZTEP and RUSDEP, which have all been established to conduct distance education. TÜRTEP is the abbreviation for “Education Programs in Turkish as Spoken in Turkey”.

LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
The language of instruction in our university is Kazakh and Turkish. In our university students from Turkish Republics and other Turkic and Relative Communities receive education. One-year-preparatory education is provided by Language Teaching Centre for the students who are not proficient in the language of instruction for their academic program. For this reason, students from Turkey take Kazakh and Russian while students from the Turkish World study Kazakh and Turkish. |
